Life on the Lake

HOW LONG DO YOU THINK IT WILL TAKE?

What a question. When that question gets asked, I try to avoid answering it. I say things like “gee, I really don’t know” or “this kind of thing has a mind of its own” or “wish I knew.” I rarely use the last answer because I usually say it with an attitude that’s a tiny bit rude.

A lot of times, the questioner is satisfied and goes away. But some persist … “don’t you have some kind of idea?” So, I think about it, come up with my best idea, multiply that by three, and give that number as my answer. The person then goes away.

I return to my project and discover that my forward progress has shifted from overdrive and cruising to second gear and crawling. Well, what else would it do? The pressure of a deadline is now looming. The pressure of a “boss” is bearing down. I wish I could be more like the guys on NCIS. They go into hyper-overdrive when pressure is applied. But on my show, Suzanne Real Life, the gears get clogged.

So, right now, I’m cruising on my drawer organizer project. I hope no-one asks me how long it’s going to take.

Take care,
Suzanne

 BLUE NORTHER

It’s just not fair. Here’s another cold front heading down toward me, and there’s very little chance of getting snow. Instead, I’m going to get sleet/rain/ice. None of the fun stuff…..just the stuff that could cause me to slip.

If we could get snow, we could have a beautiful scene before us…..and we could play! To me, snow means play! I grew up in southern Louisiana where we only had two days of snow before my high school graduation. But what fun we had in those two days! Sliding down a slide filled with snow. Building snowmen. Snowballing the neighborhood kids who dared walk by your fort. Making snow angels. Drinking hot chocolate.

So, I’m watching the weather channel and hoping the blue line will dip a little southward and include my town in the snow prediction. And I’m watching the rain drizzle down. And I’m having hot chocolate. And I’m hoping, hoping, hoping.

Ya’ll take care,
Suzanne

 Waiting

Waiting waiting waiting at the phone place. New husband is joining my family plan and closing his account and getting an I-phone. Did you know they're only $49 now?!?!

Our clerk and Greg have been talking way too much computer talk. C, C+, programing to say "hi". My mind dozed off about ten times.

 Snow Flurries!

What happened to spring?? I looked out my window an hour ago and saw tiny, tiny snowflakes. It's really cold. It seems that winter just doesn't want to give up!

I walked down here to the Club House to use the WiFi. It's the first day of spring, and I'm dressed in my heaviest coat. I'm also wearing my scarf, and it is securely wrapped around my face! The wind is blowing, and Mary (sitting across from me) just told me that the temperature is 36 degrees. I believe her.

Speaking of scarves.....this is the first winter that I have had one. Boy, are they handy. I didn't realize how cold the neck can get. I also use the scarf to cover my nose so that the air is warmed a bit before I breathe it in.

I'm hurrying back home now. Need to stay inside today. I sure hope that all those just-planted flowers and trees survive this cold!

Ya'll take care,
Suzanne

P.S. The weather report says that the temperatures will be back in the 70's by Tuesday.

 Activity All Around

It has been quiet all winter. And winter seemed to drag, didn't it? Lots of cold, lots of wind, lots of clouds and rain and even snow!

But it is no longer quiet. People are feeling that spring warmth and deciding that warm weather is here to stay. They are planting lots of things. In my walks around the park, I have found out that one person planted 50 daffodils, another planted a rose bush, another planted 100 dogwoods, and three folks have started their spring vegetables. And people are repairing their homes.....painting sheds and coverings, putting in a new floor, and replacing a bathroom.

And the fish are starting to bite. Our fishermen had gotten discouraged this winter, but that is no longer the case.

And we have guests. Right now, there are four guest trailers in our RV park. I don't ever remember having that many at one time.

And tomorrow, there is a grand celebration for Gloria's mother's birthday. She is turning 100.

So, you can see that "life on the lake" is busy right now. We al have spring fever. And we have no intention of recovering!

Ya'll take care,
Suzanne
